Location: Irving, TX OR Richmond, VA (4-days/week onsite – 1-day/week remote)

Duration: Long-term contract

Must have: Candidates need to have P&C Insurance experience – that is an absolute requirement.

Requirements

1. Azure Cloud PaaS
2. Experience with various data storage solutions including Azure Databricks, SQL Server, Azure SQL, Cosmos, Azure Data Lake, or similar
3. Foundational background in programming with various programming languages including.NET, Java, Python, or PowerShell
4. P&C (Property & Casualty) Insurance – Industry Experience

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Solution architect day-to-day work involves designing and providing recommendations and roadmaps for proposed solutions. They will also need to document and share best practices and advocate for process and performance improvements. Other daily tasks include:

• Collaborate with and across business and technical teams to design, develop, test, and implement solutions that enhance our underwriting, claims, and operational processes using current technology, data and analytics.
• Work with a team of subject matter experts, data scientists and data engineers and data architects to identify ways to transform operational processes, enhance data assets, and manage organizational change as we implement solutions that leverage data and analytics in new ways
• Evaluate, utilize and implement platforms across the technology landscape. This would include insurance platforms, cloud platforms, automation tools, CRM solutions, custom systems, data management tools, analytics platforms and business intelligence solutions.
• Facilitate design, and implementation of technology solutions that support our strategic direction, enable operations and improve our ability to leverage technology in support of our business.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Has an advanced understanding of solution architecture, and architecting Data Analytics solutions
• 10 + years overall IT industry experience, minimum of 3 years in a solution or technical architect role using service and hosting solutions such as private/public cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS platforms
• 5+ years’ experience in designing technology solutions that deliver on business objectives and support strategic goals of an organization.
• 5+ years of experience working with data engineering and analytic teams to deliver technology solutions that facilitate BI, analysis, and operational processes that incorporate analytics insights in to them.
• 5+ years’ experience partnering with core technology functions to deliver highly scalable, supportable, and efficient systems solutions. Engaging core technology to ensure security, service levels, and integration with existing systems has been incorporated into new systems design.
• 3+ years’ experience working with cloud platforms to delivery technology solutions to end users, within a hybrid environment.
• 2+ years working with subject matter experts, and technical teams to design, implement and support data management practices within a large or medium sized organization
• Comfortable working in a dynamic and diverse business landscape with distributed teams across the U.S. and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years working in in Commercial P&C insurance
• 2+ years engaging technical and operational business partners in change management activities to ensure adoption of new technology, processes or analytical tools
• 2+ years evaluating and building cost benefit analysis around new technologies and approaches to business opportunities. Demonstrated ability to help others understand and learn new technologies, methods and practices. Ability to design and integrate game changing technologies into existing business processes.
• Can adopt and relate new technologies to the set of problems we face at WRB while adhering to security and other company standards
• Can communicate solutions, ideas, suggestions to a variety of (business) stakeholders effectively and comprehensibly
• Possesses strategic business acumen and understanding of organizational strategy
• Understanding of Application, Infrastructure and security architecture and non-functional aspects like Performance, Scalability, Reliability, Availability, all the so-called “capabilities” of a system
• Understanding of latest cloud computing and data technologies, business drivers, emerging computing trends, and deployment options. One or more programming and scripting languages such as JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, SQL,.NET, Java, Python, PHP, Ruby, PERL, C++, etc.
• Relational, graph and/or unstructured data technologies such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, Cosmos, Azure Data Lake, HD Insights, Hadoop, Neo4j etc.
• Data movement and transformation technologies such as Alteryx etc.
• Visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
• Analytics tools including Azure Stream Analytics, SQL Analytics, Data Lake Analytics.
• AI and Machine Learning tools such as Azure ML etc.
• Delivery using common methodologies especially SAFe Agile but also Waterfall, Iterative etc.
• Certifications e.g. Microsoft, TOGAF, AWS Cloud Certified, Pivotal, CISSIP, Zachman, ITIL, Cisco, (ISC) 2, CEH, SAFe, PMI, and SAP etc.
