Worker Type: Regular Job Summary: The Cardiology Tech in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory provides technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures and basic patient care under the supervision of a professional nurse. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean, orderly department and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout their stay. Key Responsibilities Patient Care: Perform general care under RN direction, including EKG, bathing, bed changes, feeding, and monitoring patient condition. Technical Support: Assist with catheterization procedures, circulate in procedure rooms, scrub‑assist, connect patients to monitors, set up arterial/venous lines, operate equipment (hemodynamic monitors, video systems, contrast injectors, etc.), and maintain supplies. Catheter Removal: Assess groin sites, check vital signs, apply compression, provide post‑procedural instructions, and assist the Operations Coordinator with inventory. Communication: Relay patient information to nursing staff, answer calls courteously, and maintain effective communication with patients, families, visitors, and physicians. Safety & Infection Control: Follow universal precautions, dispose hazardous waste, maintain a clean environment, report risk‑management concerns, and ensure proper patient identification. Service Excellence: Provide courteous, respectful care, meet patient needs, listen actively, and explain procedures clearly. Professional Accountability: Attend scheduled work, complete mandatory training, assist colleagues, suggest process improvements, and uphold a clean, professional appearance. Performance Improvement: Participate in unit‑based PI plans, collect and analyze data, and contribute to action plans. Additional Tasks Telephone communication. Routine patient care activities such as bathing, bed changes, and feeding. Specific data collection activities as assigned. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Working Conditions: Regular exposure to blood‑borne diseases, radiation, and hazardous materials. Requires use of protective apparel and may involve emergency care, irregular hours, and high demand scenarios. Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing/walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Qualifications High school graduate. Registered Radiology Technologist or CCI credential for Cath lab preferred. Previous Cath Lab experience. BLS, ALS preferred. State licensure in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin.
