Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years Experience Required License: NC or Compact License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler Experience: Unit will not accept first-time travelers Certifications: ACLS, BLS Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit may result in cancellation and do not return. The Intermediate ICU is a very fast-paced unit. The nurse-patient ratio is 4:1. Average daily census is 24. Requires charge nurse experience and skills in telemetry and IV starts. Comfort with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is essential. Candidates should have experience with peripheral line care and management. Knowledge of non-invasive airway management is preferred. Experience with post-cardiac catheterization patients and post-cardiac/vascular surgical patients is necessary. Priority for admission is given to patients with specific cardiac diagnoses. Patients may include those with acutely decompensated heart failure, new onset heart failure, and those pre/post cardiac or renal procedures. Candidates should be able to manage patients requiring telemetry monitoring. Role includes administration and titration of vasoactive intravenous medications. Cardioversion may be performed in the unit with the appropriate presence. Special procedures require monitoring and the ability to provide emotional support and education to patients and families. Staffing and scheduling is self-scheduled based on unit needs. Must be open to floating within or near the facility per job description. Wound care experience is preferred. Unit supports interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Pediatric patients under 16 years are not admitted to this unit. All candidates must be willing to comply with hospital policies and procedures. Flexibility regarding weekend shifts is required, with every other weekend expected. Current employee reapplication timelines and RTO policies apply. Candidates may need to complete pre-start modules online prior to beginning work.
