Position Available: Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist Nocturnist

We are looking for a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Nocturnist to deliver exceptional overnight inpatient care for children receiving treatment for cancer or blood disorders. This role involves being the primary on-site physician responsible for clinical management, admissions, and urgent assessments. The nocturnist will lead evening rounds alongside the nursing team to ensure effective communication, coordinated care, and prompt identification of any changes in patient conditions. Additionally, this position includes active participation in the education of residents and fellows through bedside teaching, case discussions, and support for clinical decision-making during night shifts. As an integral member of the pediatric oncology team, the nocturnist will promote a collaborative, family-centered atmosphere that prioritizes safety, compassion, and excellence in care.

• Our division consists of 14 physicians (12 full-time), 5 nurse practitioners/physician assistants, and one psychologist.

• We are supported by a comprehensive team, including excellent administrative staff, social workers, a dietitian/nutritionist, 8 nurse coordinators, and 10 clinical research personnel.

• Our hematology clinical programs feature a state-supported sickle cell initiative, a hemophilia treatment center, a young women's bleeding clinic, and a hemostasis/thrombosis clinic.

• Our oncology programs specialize in treating leukemia, lymphoma, and solid tumors, along with dedicated programs for neurofibromatosis, genetic predisposition syndromes, neuro-oncology, survivorship, and adolescent/young adult oncology.

• We operate an outpatient clinic linked to the pediatric infusion center at the Penn State Children's Hospital, as well as outreach clinics in Reading and Lancaster.

• Patients are admitted to an 18-bed Pediatric Hematology-Oncology unit within the Penn State Children's Hospital.

• Our clinical and research initiatives are supported by Four Diamonds, the Children's Miracle Network, and the Beat Childhood Cancer Foundation.

• Candidates with training or relevant experience in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology who are interested in a nocturnist role.

• M.D., D.O., or an equivalent foreign degree.

• Eligibility to obtain a license to practice in Pennsylvania; board-certified/board-eligible.

• An interest in research is welcomed but not mandatory.
