Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a Level III trauma center, requiring 2+ years of experience and pediatric respiratory care experience.

Details

• Short term acute care Level III trauma center with 252 staffed beds, part of Yale New Haven Health System
• Works in Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department, NICU, and Pediatrics settings
• Evening (4x10, 14:45-0:45) and Night (4x10, 23:00-9:00) shift options, 40 hours per week
• Schedule includes at least every other weekend and every other holiday based on department need
• Floating to Westerly Hospital as needed
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience required in specialty
• Pediatrics experience required
• CT and RI state licenses required (one may be pending as long as the other is active); license required if applicable
• BLS certification required
• CRT certification required
• RRT certification preferred
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures such as Bubble CPAP, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP, umbilical blood gases, and assisting in high risk deliveries preferred
• Skilled in ventilator management, arterial blood gas drawing and interpretation, airway management, and suctioning
• Experience with chest physiotherapy, nebulizer treatments, and tracheostomy care preferred
• 1 reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy services across adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care settings
• Perform oxygen therapy, ventilator management, and pulmonary hygiene procedures
• Participate in high-risk delivery support and neonatal/pediatric respiratory care as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free parking available on site
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
• Travelers must participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Local candidates not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the facility are considered local
• Former staff must be separated from employment for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved
