Sales Associate – Housewares (Part Time) Job Number: 26000207 Location: Bethesda, Maryland, United States Job Summary: As a sales associate you will be the face of our company. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service Proactively engage and make a connection with customers. Ask questions and listen to customer needs. Direct customers to merchandise by informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, STAR card. Cooperate and build positive inclusive and respectful relationships; take accountability for your own actions and outcomes. Organization Maintain store appearance. Sales Cross‑sell products and know the layout of the store. Make suggestions to customers on latest trends and current promotions based on individual needs. Upsell products. Learn product features, keep up with trends, and use company tools and technology to confidently provide customers with product knowledge and specifications. Use a Point‑of‑Sale system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards and cash handling, including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customers. Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation. Inventory Serve as keeper of merchandise, complete all inventory processes, and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed. Participate in periodic inventories as needed. Dependability Adhere to assigned work schedule; complete work assignments accurately and completely. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Product Knowledge Basic knowledge of products and merchandise. Experience Retail experience preferred but not required. Communication Skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Effective communication with customers, peers, and management. Phone etiquette. Mathematical Skills Basic math functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Reasoning Ability Ability to multi‑task while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business. Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independently of direct supervision. Physical Demands and Work Environment This position involves constantly moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. It may occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The role involves lifting at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs in some departments. Work is typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending on location. Work Hours Available to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. No experience required. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
