About the Position

Job Title: Medical-Surgical Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-surg Adult Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: Stroke certification preferred Must-Have: - Ability to work three 12-hour shifts per week - Availability for every other weekend - Availability for every other holiday Description: This is a 25-bed unit with 11 private rooms and 7 semi-private rooms. The nursing ratio is 5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights, with occasional total care patients. The patient population includes a wide variety, with the majority being stroke patients. We primarily care for stroke patients who do not require TPA and comfort care or hospice patients. The unit also manages post-operative patients, including those with amputations, drains, chest tubes, and feeding tubes. Additionally, the unit handles heparin drips, wound care, altered mental status, CIWA patients, acute kidney injury (AKI), dialysis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations.
