Travel Surgical Tech/ORT - Certified Surgical Technologist/CST

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a CVOR position requiring NBSTSA certification and confidence in open heart and vascular surgery cases.

Job Details

• CVOR unit averaging 6 cases per day,
• Cardiovascular patient population including open heart and vascular surgeries,
• 13-week assignment with weekday shift hours from 06:00-14:30,
• Weekend call required,

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical technology role,
• NBSTSA certification required (only certification recognized in South Carolina),
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association,
• License required if applicable,
• Ability to perform confidently in open heart and vascular surgery cases,

Additional Information

• Work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures,
• Ensure availability and preparedness of OR rooms, supplies, and equipment,
• Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment for surgical cases,
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping according to hospital standards,
• Participate in surgical site and patient verification during time out procedures,
• Perform instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator,
• Maintain strict sterile technique throughout procedures to ensure patient and staff safety,
• Assist with specimen preparation and handoff as appropriate,
• Support terminal cleaning and sterilization of instruments and OR rooms,
• Use standard precautions and appropriate PPE when handling hazardous substances,
• Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, and staff
