Lead Transmission Line Engineer (Remote)Location: Remote (U.S.)Compensation: $145,000–$165,000 base, DOEReports To: Executive LeadershipAbout the Opportunity Our client is a fast-growing professional services firm providing engineering, project management, and consulting solutions to utility, corporate, industrial, commercial, and municipal clients across the U.S. Founded in 2022, the firm has scaled to 35 employees and built a strong reputation in distribution and substation engineering. They are now launching a transmission line engineering practice and are looking for the engineer who will build it.The Opportunity This is a true build role. You will be employee #1 of the transmission line department, working alongside established distribution and substation teams but starting the T-line practice from the ground up. You'll lead project delivery, serve as the primary client point of contact for transmission work, and shape the department that gets built around and beneath you as it grows. This is an ideal fit for a senior transmission engineer who wants ownership, autonomy, and a direct hand in building a practice rather than inheriting one.What You'll Do Lead transmission line engineering projects from proposal through completion, overseeing design, analysis, and deliveryServe as the primary client-facing point of contact for transmission work, managing relationships and expectations directlyEstablish the technical standards, workflows, and design practices for the transmission departmentPerform and review structural, sag/tension, and loading analyses for transmission line design (typically 69kV–345kV+)Prepare and stamp/review construction drawings, plan-profile sheets, and structure spotting as neededCoordinate with civil, structural, and electrical engineering teams on integrated utility projectsProvide technical mentorship and oversight as the department grows, eventually building and leading a team beneath youSupport business development efforts, including scoping, proposals, and client presentations for transmission workEnsure all work complies with NESC, IEEE, and applicable state/utility design standardsWhat We're Looking For 8+ years of transmission line engineering experience, including project leadershipStrong working knowledge of structural analysis software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, or similar)Experience owning client relationships and serving as a technical POCDemonstrated ability to work independently and make sound engineering judgment calls with minimal oversightProfessional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred, not requiredComfort operating in a startup-style environment — this is a build-it role, not a maintain-it roleExcellent communication skills; you'll be the face of this department to clientsWhy This Role Genuine ownership: you define how this department operates, not just execute someone else's playbookDirect line to leadership and real influence over hiring, process, and growth as the practice scalesRemote flexibilityJoin a growing, diversified engineering firm at a pivotal stage of its transmission expansion
