Financial Counselor

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join their team, responsible for supporting patients through the financial aspects of their healthcare journey. This role involves assisting patients in understanding their financial responsibilities, guiding them through insurance processes, and ensuring they have access to available financial assistance programs. Key Responsibilities Financial Education and Support : Provide clear explanations to patients and their families regarding financial obligations, including co-pays and payment options. Assist in collecting payments and ensure accurate documentation of transactions. Insurance Guidance : Interpret and explain coverage details of various insurance plans to patients, helping them understand their benefits and responsibilities. Financial Assistance Screening : Proactively reach out to self-pay patients to assess their eligibility for financial assistance programs, ensuring timely application and processing. Collaboration with Healthcare Teams : Work closely with medical staff, social workers, and case managers to coordinate care and support for patients, addressing any financial concerns that may arise. Technology Utilization : Efficiently use hospital systems and software to manage patient information, process payments, and track financial assistance applications. Compliance and Safety : Adhere to all hospital policies, including those related to patient identification, emergency procedures, and safety protocols. Qualifications Education : High school diploma required; additional education or training in healthcare administration or a related field preferred. Experience : Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in patient access or financial services, is advantageous. Skills : Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in using computer systems and software.
