Senior Tax Associate

About the RoleAs a seasonal Sr Tax Associate at H&R Block, you’ll build on your first year of tax experience by preparing more complex returns, strengthening client relationships, and growing your expertise. You’ll receive ongoing training, teammate support, and competitive hourly pay and incentive plan. This role is in-person at a local H&R Block tax office.Meet with returning and new clients to gather information, understand their tax situation, and prepare complete, accurate returnsApply the tax knowledge and client service skills you built in your first season to handle a broader range of client needs with greater independenceExplain tax information clearly, answer client questions, and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understandIdentify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant H&R Block products and servicesUse problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address unique situations, leveraging available resources and guidance when neededBuild lasting client relationships and contribute to office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approachRequired QualificationsSuccessful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment¹1 year of experience as an H&R Block Tax Associate, including preparing individual tax returnsMust complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirementsStrong communication skills, including explaining tax information clearly and asking questions to understand client needsProblem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutionsComfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPTHigh school diploma / GED / equivalentPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related fieldExperience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional servicesExperience asking questions and recommending solutions based on client needsAbility to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periodsAvailability to work evenings and weekends during tax seasonWhy work for usAt H&R Block, our purpose is simple: to provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere.
