Product Manager - Concrete Products

The Product Manager - Concrete Products is responsible for managing product matters related to the concrete product line throughout the product life cycle, from strategic planning to tactical activities, and aligning the strategies for the product with those of the organization. The Product Manager will synthesize the customer cues, industry, and the market needs to create products that profitably grow the product segment they manage. The Product Manager will prepare an annual product line plan that is based on well-defined product market research, detailed product information, price points, sales forecasts, special features of new and existing products and coordinate with selling branches to recommend pricing and initial channels of distribution. They will also lead the development of new products within their line by managing interdepartmental teams (Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Quality, Sourcing, and Production) to develop, launch and drive sales of new products ensuring execution is in line with the project plan. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time) General responsibility for managing a portfolio of products (20%) Work with customers, sales, research and development, and engineering to identify and develop needed products and product applications within their assigned lines (10%) Develop new product definition, financial analysis of the opportunity, and development timeline (10%) Work with marketing to develop appropriate marketing material to support the product portfolio throughout the product life cycle to maximize product revenue (10%) Manage the product life cycle including product rationalization, profitability, and future requirements based on market changes (10%) Lead product training of Simpson personnel and assist in training activities at branches for customers as needed (10%) Work with sales and regional engineering personnel to advance industry knowledge and relationships (10%) Regularly work in field to look for product and application opportunities from internal and external sources (10%) Strategically work with industry related organizations within assigned product line purview to maximize impact of Simpson product revenue (10%) DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent experience Minimum 2 years of related experience and/or training in product management Minimum 2 years experience and in-depth of knowledge related to products for concrete and masonry Strong knowledge of the building code, and construction methods and techniques Vision: Must possess a unique blend of business acumen and technological savvy, along with a big‑picture vision and the drive to turn that vision into reality. Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively with all areas of the company and facilitate discussions and debate, mediate conflict, and nurture a collaborative, cross‑functional team. Math: Ability to calculate and analyze figures and amounts such as interest, market pricing, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reading Comprehension: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Writing: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Speaking: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Financial Planning and Analysis: Solid understanding of business financials. Travel Required: This position requires domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time. WORK STATUS & LOCATION: This full‑time, exempt position is located in Gallatin, TN, other main branches may be considered. Relocation: Relocation may be available for this position. PAY $84,400 - $135,000 / year REWARDS AT SIMPSON STRONG‑TIE Quarterly Bonuses/Commission: You will be eligible for either a bonus or commission, paid on a quarterly basis.
