The Village of Hawthorn Woods has an Executive Level employment opportunity for the Director of Finance position . We are looking for an experienced and motivated professional to join our Executive Leadership Team and play an important role in the financial management and future of our community. The Director of Finance oversees the Village's financial operations, including payroll, financial records and reporting, budgeting, cash management, and the annual audit and budget processes. This position provides financial guidance and recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer, Village Board, and department heads and assists with long-term financial planning. The Director also serves as the staff liaison to the Finance Committee, oversees municipal financial controls, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Village policies. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and supervises two full-time employees. Education: Bachelor's degree or master's in finance, accounting, public administration, business administration, or related field required; preferred candidate possesses an advanced Degree in aforementioned fields, from an accredited institution and is comfortable with software technology.Experience: At least five years of experience in a management position related to public finance or human resources; preferred candidate would have experience in municipal finance department (or sufficient combination of education and experience) This position can grow into a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position for advancement.Certifications: Possesses a valid driver's license; CPA or CPFO required; preferred candidate would have active memberships in organizations such as GFOA, IGFOA, AICPA, ILCPAS, and IPMA-HR Category Administration Status Open Full Time; Non-exempt Salary Career Band 2 - Minimum $138,000 - Maximum $188,880/DOQ Posted September 1, 2026 8:00 AM Closing Open Until Filled Attached Files Director of Finance Employment Application 2026 (PDF) Approved Compensation Plan 2026 (PDF) #J-18808-Ljbffr
