Ensuring policies and procedures are followed and work to maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. Responsible for the leadership of assigned employees and all processes related to safety, customer satisfaction, productivity and resources. The Production Manager will assist the Plant Manager in performing all plant planning, operational, financial, safety and environmental duties.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Production Manager consist of, but are not limited to the following:Always exemplifies Amcor behaviors and values. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Amcor inside and outside of the plant.Responsible for the safety of all employees through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable lawsActively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.Completes incident investigations and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.Directs all production activities through the Production Supervisors and coordinates inter-departmental activities with other department heads.Plans department expense budget and the method of operation to remain within the budget and assures cost control and cost improvement projects.Supervises Production Supervisors and serves as a back up to the Plant Manager.Approves departmental operating procedures.Monitors and controls labor and material variancesProvides leadership in maintaining safety, quality and efficiency throughout the department.Monitors production and labor efficiencies to ensure that Company standards are met and maintains proper production practices.Maintains an efficient workforce through communication, developing and training of personnel.Controls all raw materials and finished goods within the production area.Responsible for maintaining and adhering to established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements.Support facility ISO/SQF program.COMPETENCIES:Safety Leadership – Embodies commitment for a safe workplace, acts as a role model on safety leadership, activities and communicationAccountability –holds self-accountable evidenced by say/do ratio, initiative and ownership actions (such as ensuring safety is more important than productivity)Communication – ability to communicate safety, goals and company expectations with appropriate levels of the organization; create clear, timely audience appropriate messages (both written and verbal).Engagement – communicate and support the vision of plant leadership; celebrate the wins, and ensure employees actively participate in safety-related activities.Team Development – understand the development needs of employees in your organization; drive the culture of employees as safety leaders; champion talent development from pre-hire to continuous learning.People Agility –Understand personal strengths and weaknesses; leads by example; promotes change through listening skills and seeking frequent input from employees; is genuine and approachable; firm but fair – consistent.Problem Solving/Conflict Resolution - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; mitigates relationship conflicts and encourages constructive (problem-solving) conflictEDUCATIONAL, SKILL, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field, and 5+ years of successful experience in a manufacturing environment or a combination of education and experience.Enclosed office space with frequent daily exposure to warehouse and production floor; able to wear all required PPE. Equal amounts of time spent sitting, standing, and walking.Ability to organize and prioritize work activities for self and others, and to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to utilize a variety of computer software (Microsoft products preferred).Must be able to analyze, interpret and react to changes and challenges in our operation.Must be able to organize and plan daily activities, training and meetings as necessary.Our ExpectationsWe expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
