Job Description Overview of Position A client of Insight Global is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patients by actively participating in an interdisciplinary care team and assisting providers in the delivery of primary care services. Under the direction of the RN Supervisor or Site Manager, this individual will help ensure efficient clinic operations while delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will adhere to organizational policies, procedures, ethical standards, and applicable licensing and accreditation requirements while representing the mission and values of the healthcare organization in all interactions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Complete chart preparation for each patient, including review of population health management systems, outstanding orders and referrals, and relevant medical records; document information in the EHR. Manage clinic flow and support efficient patient throughput. Greet patients, assess needs, and escort patients to examination rooms. Follow rooming procedures, including documenting recent ER/hospital visits, obtaining vital signs, completing screening tests, and initiating health maintenance orders as appropriate. Perform medication reviews and update medication records as directed. Assist providers with examinations and procedures, including room preparation and cleanup. Carry out provider orders, including blood draws, ECGs, lab work, dressings, treatments, medication refills, and routine testing procedures; document results as appropriate. Prepare specimens for transport, complete required documentation, and coordinate transportation. Maintain patient records and assist with medical records management. Administer medications and injections according to site guidelines and scope of practice. Manage vaccine inventory, storage, handling, ordering, tracking, and reporting. Handle telephone inquiries and conduct patient callbacks as assigned, excluding patient triage responsibilities. Assist nurses and providers with incoming patient healthcare information and documentation. Approve employee timecards when directed by a supervisor. Adhere to universal precautions and organizational policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all applicable organizational standards, codes of conduct, and conflict-of-interest policies. Stay informed of federal, state, and organizational regulations, policies, and healthcare requirements. Precept and mentor medical assistant apprentices, externs, and new employees as needed. Represent the healthcare organization at community outreach events, career fairs, and recruitment activities as requested. Perform other duties as assigned.
