Registered NurseUnder general direction, the Registered Nurse monitors patients, supports the providers, and documents procedures.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Ensures continual delivery of high-quality nursing careAdopts and implements innovative nursing practices to improve the facilityMaintains a healthy, collaborative team environmentMentors/trains other surgical staff, as neededPromotes positive customer relations within the ASCHas working knowledge of all equipment and proceduresOversees safety surveillance and task related responsibilities that have been delegated to others to ensure effective and desired resultsOversees infection control surveillance and task related responsibilities that have been delegated to others to ensure effective and desired resultsMaintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records, including but not limited to autoclave receiptsMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societiesMaintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methodsContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededConsults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plansMonitors all aspects of patient carePrepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and suppliesDeals compassionately, professionally, and courteously with patients, their families, physicians, and fellow employeesFollows safety and infection control proceduresAdheres to all federal, state and nursing regulations and protocols including but not limited to patient safety procedures such as verification of patient identification prior to proceduresIdentifies an emergency situation and is able to appropriately interveneUnderstands and administers regulatory policies (i.e.: Joint Commission/AAAHC, CDC, State, etc.)Deploys, monitors, and ensures that the facilities' operational processes are appropriately integrated within the facility's quality programsMaintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, Company and other regulatory standardsAssists with supply ordering, as neededProvides clinical support for procedure'sMaintains accurate, detailed reports and recordsMonitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditionsRecords patients' medical information and vital signsEnsures history and physicals are complete on each patient, by the provider, prior to proceduresConsults and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plansInstructs individuals, families and others on topics such as health education, disease prevention and develop health improvement programsOversees and ensures that daily/quarterly/annual binders/logs are up to dateInforms physician of patient's condition before, during and after proceduresActs as a liaison between the physician and the patient and patient's family or support person(s)Maintains the role of patient advocateEnsures, provides and explains discharge instructions to all patientsEnsures physician has cleared patient for discharge prior to discharging the patientAssists in the stocking and inventory of the clinical areaEnsures all applicable Surgery Center staff and guests wear radiation badgesMaintains and stores radiation safety equipmentConducts annual apron and thyroid shield inspectionsConducts safety drills, as requiredConducts daily inventory of and ensures policies and procedures are followed for controlled substancesAs assigned, ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniquesOrders/requests supplies as neededChecks and responds to work e-mail on a regular basis throughout the workdayParticipate in and complete all required trainings and in-servicesPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Associates Degree in Nursing.Must have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).Must possess and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state in which the employee practices, or must hold a nursing license within a compact eligible state. Proof of licensure and/or compact eligibility must be submitted.Must possess a current ACLS and BLS certification.Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service.Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other co-workers and the public.Must be able to work individually as well as within a team.Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.Must be able to work a flexible schedule.Must be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations.Must be able to multi-task and prioritize.Must have working knowledge of all equipment and procedures.Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail.Must possess strong organization skills.Must be able to problem solve and use reasoning.Must be able to meet predefined quality standards.Must maintain and project a professional attitude and appearance at all times.Must have a working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical specialty, as well as medical terminology.Must provide proof of influenza vaccination annually.Must complete two (2)-step PPD (NE staff) OR must complete an annual PPD (SE staff).Must complete all regulatory competencies prior to beginning work in the ASC.All staff are expected to have a strong desire to provide excellent customer service; to comply with the rules and regulations of those organizations to which we are accountable; to have high ethical and professional standards of conduct; and to have an attitude of wanting to continuously improve their own professional performance.Preferred Qualifications:One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse.One (1) year of prior experience working in a Pain Management practice.One (1) year of prior experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).Driving/Travel:The employee must have reliable transportation. Travel for this position will be required up to 80%.
