Life Skills Instructor
The Life Skills Instructor will provide programming and training at Magnify and in the community intended to support the participants in daily, meaningful, valued routines in the community.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure the overall well-being and health, and safety of clients are maintained at the highest standards
- Act as a liaison to families, guardians, waiver support coordinators, behavioral analysts and/or other agencies providing services to clients
- Assist in developing a meaningful curriculum that is age and culturally appropriate that stresses training in Activities of Daily Living, Self-Advocacy, Adaptive and Social Skills, and Employment.
- Participate in resident support plan meetings and conduct service plan meetings
- Identify the consumer's goals and needs from the individual's support plan and other pertinent sources appropriate to the individual.
- Develop individualized implementation plans (IP) for all clients.
- Review and evaluate the IP on a regular basis to update if needed.
- Follow guidelines set forth by the Coverages and Limitations Handbook
- Develop a program that is six hours in length, five days a week, including a minimum of four-hours in specific training or program activities designed to meet individual needs and personal goals and defined in the support plans.
- Document daily progress notes, data, and attendance in accordance with the iBudget Waiver handbook and Magnify of Central Florida protocols
- Compose quarterly and annual reports in compliance with the iBudget Waiver handbook of the individuals' progress toward achieving support plan outcomes for the period being reviewed.
- Review client progress data periodically and if necessary put corrective measures into place if the data indicates that the goal is not being achieved.
- Create community partnerships for the consumers to learn about volunteer, vocational, and educational opportunities through; education, experience and exposure.
- Ensure that the individuals demonstrate freedom of choice, including being informed about rights and service options
- Conducts orientation informing recipients of supported employment and competitive employment opportunities in the community and assists with referrals to the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
- Maintains knowledge of instruction technologies by attending workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies; attending trainings.
- Transports clients in the community during the program using Bishop Grady Villas vehicles
- Conduct all essential functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Scope:
Position encounters varied work situations with limited but periodic complexity, operating from established procedures. Operates with supervision and direct management support and may provide leadership support to others. Position maintains files containing sensitive and confidential documents. Position provides direct care to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Specific Job Skills:
- Experience teaching others, especially those with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Office and productivity software
- Strong time management and prioritization
- Ability to follow directions communicated synchronously (in person or over digital communications) and asynchrony (posted notices, emails, etc.)
- Ability to communicate both in person and digitally or in writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to feedback
- Ability to provide feedback to others in a constructive and positive way.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to take responsibility for challenges encountered by oneself and others.

- Leadership, and the ability to provide guidance and support to others without direct supervisory authority.
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a plus.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant combination of education/experience required.
- 3+ Years of related experience in a non-profit environment.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift up to 50 pounds, climb up and down stairs, stand, walk, talk, feel, sit, grasp, hear and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists.
Working Environment:
Work is performed mainly in an office setting.
