This role serves as a discipline-focused electrical lead, providing practical technical support to project managers, technical managers, shipboard teams, shipyards, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
The position helps ensure that assigned electrical work is properly defined, coordinated, reviewed, executed, documented, and delivered in accordance with safety, quality, operational, regulatory, schedule, and budget expectations. The role requires strong shipboard electrical knowledge, hands-on project execution experience, structured follow-up, and the ability to identify risks, resolve issues, and escalate matters appropriately.
The Lead, Electrical works under the direction of senior technical leadership and supports multiple projects or workstreams as assigned. The role does not carry full portfolio-level ownership but is expected to take ownership of assigned electrical scope, maintain clear communication, and help drive disciplined execution from planning through close-out.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Electrical Scope and Technical Support:
Support the development, review, and coordination of electrical scope for ship revitalization, dry dock, modernization, and newbuild owner’s scope projects.
Review electrical drawings, specifications, design proposals, work packages, bid documents, and technical submissions for completeness, practicality, and alignment with project requirements.
Assist in validating that electrical designs and proposed installations are safe, operationally suitable, maintainable, and compatible with shipboard systems.
Support technical clarification processes with design offices, shipyards, vendors, contractors, consultants, classification societies, and internal project teams.
Assist with the selection, review, and installation coordination of electrical equipment, safety systems, shipboard appliances, power distribution components, lighting, entertainment equipment and audio systems, automation interfaces, and related technical systems.
Identify technical gaps, constructability issues, missing information, material concerns, and execution risks within assigned electrical scope.
Provide recommendations to project managers and senior technical leadership for issue resolution, corrective action, and scope alignment.
Maintain familiarity with applicable company standards, SQM requirements, class requirements, flag requirements, safety policies, and environmental expectations relevant to assigned electrical work.
Project Coordination and Execution
Coordinate assigned electrical activities during feasibility, design, contracting, preparation, execution, commissioning, and close-out phases.
Support project managers and technical managers by tracking electrical deliverables, open issues, vendor responses, design comments, procurement needs, and execution readiness.
Participate in project meetings, ship checks, design reviews, vendor discussions, dry dock readiness reviews, and onboard coordination meetings.
Support development and follow-up of project schedules, action lists, technical trackers, risk logs, drawing review comments, and close-out documentation.
Coordinate with shipboard leadership, chief engineers, chief electricians, ship managers, contractors, vendors, and shipyard representatives to support successful execution.
Help ensure assigned electrical work is planned with appropriate access, materials, manpower, permits, testing steps, commissioning requirements, and safety controls.
Monitor work progress during onboard, shipyard, and dry dock execution periods and provide timely updates to project managers and senior technical leadership.
Support handover activities, vessel restart readiness, punch-list closure, as-built documentation, lessons learned, and post-project follow-up.
Dry Dock, Shipyard, and Onboard Support
Support electrical planning and execution during dry dock preparations, onboard installations, inspections, testing, commissioning, and close-out.
Assist in reviewing contractor work plans, risk assessments, material readiness, testing procedures, and acceptance criteria before work begins.
Provide field support during installation, modifications, troubleshooting, inspections, functional testing, energization, commissioning, and handover.
Coordinate with onboard teams and contractors to help minimize operational disruption and ensure safe execution.
Identify field execution risks, quality concerns, schedule impacts, and technical issues requiring escalation.
Support compliance with shipyard, company, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements during field execution.
Be prepared to support extended field assignments, including significant working hours during dry dock, shipyard, and onboard execution periods.
Vendor, Contractor, and Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate assigned electrical deliverables with vendors, contractors, design offices, shipyards, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
Support review of vendor quotations, technical proposals, schedules, material submissions, method statements, and documentation packages.
Monitor vendor and contractor performance against assigned technical, schedule, quality, safety, and documentation requirements.
Assist with tracking procurement status, material delivery, long-lead items, owner-furnished equipment, and vendor attendance requirements.
Support alignment between electrical contractors and other disciplines, including marine, hotel technical, HVAC, structural, catering, safety systems, IT, and design.
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment and timely follow-up.
Escalate unresolved technical, commercial, schedule, safety, or quality issues to the appropriate project manager or senior technical leader.
Documentation, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
Prepare and maintain assigned electrical trackers, drawing review logs, issue lists, technical reports, inspection notes, action registers, and close-out documentation.
Support accurate and timely reporting of status, risks, issues, dependencies, and required decisions.
Contribute to lessons learned reviews and help identify improvements for future projects, dry docks, work packages, and vendor coordination.
Support standardization of electrical scope templates, technical review practices, commissioning expectations, and documentation requirements.

Financial Responsibilities
