Van Driver Position

This posting is for a part-time, casual/seasonal Van Driver position with the Caesar Rodney School District. Part-time Van Drivers work up to 29 or fewer hours per week. Hours may vary based on operational needs, and are not guaranteed. This is an anticipated vacancy. Openings for this role become available at various times throughout the year. Essential Functions:

• Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
• Be an authorized Fleet driver or be willing to become one.
• Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to follow multi-step instructions accurately.
• Safely transport students to and from school and other authorized locations as assigned.
• Clean, inspect and refuel vans as needed to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Maintain order and discipline in an effective and courteous manner among students being transported in accordance with district policies and procedures; reports any incidents involving student discipline.
• Monitor and track route schedules to promote efficiency, consistency, and timely service.
• Maintain and submit records and reports at required times.
• Follow all safety procedures to ensure no student is left unattended in a vehicle at any time.
• Inspect, inventory, and replenish emergency first aid kits to ensure all vehicles remain fully stocked and compliant with safety requirements.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Salary: $20.00 per hour. Individuals are paid only for hours worked and will not receive pay for District holidays.

Pre-Employment Requirements: Individuals must provide official high school transcripts, if applicable, updated resume, and three (3) letters of recommendation. All persons employed by the Caesar Rodney School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test. Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following: proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver's License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry. Transportation employees are subject to a pre-employment drug test and physical (initially and annually). Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
