Job Opportunity at Uniontown HospitalAssists in the delivery of patient care by transferring equipment/instrumentation during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to physicians. Performs a variety of duties related to the preparation, processing, and arrangement of endoscopic instruments and supplies under the direction of a Registered Nurse.Minimum QualificationsEducation, Certification, and/or Licensure:High school diploma or equivalent (GED).Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or LPN Program.Preferred QualificationsExperience:Previous G.I. experience preferred.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Other duties may be assigned.Secures, sets up and prepares the equipment, instruments, and supplies for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Arranges instruments, tables, stands, and other articles in specified order. Adjusts equipment within the Short Stay Unit to meet the needs of the physician and the requirements of the procedure.Delivers equipment & instrumentation to physician during procedures. Communicates with physician, registered nurse in the utilization of the nursing process to meet individual patient needs according to the ages of patients served.Organizes time to complete assignments according to specifically assigned responsibilities.Properly cares for contaminated instruments and supplies during and after procedures utilizing appropriate infection control techniques.Follows department guidelines in the cleaning and disinfection of furniture/equipment.Reports to Department Director/designee any equipment malfunctions that could affect the standard of care or legal implications.Enters accurate and complete patient data prior to procedure.Performs other duties as assigned.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
