Clinical Specialist - CardioVascular Surgery, San Antonio/Houston/Rio Grande Valley

Job Overview Medical device company Medtronic is seeking a Clinical Specialist for the CardioVascular Surgery team. The role provides technical, clinical, educational, and field support to ensure the safe adoption and successful utilization of Medtronic Surgical Based Therapy (SBT) products and procedures. Responsibilities Provide technical leadership for implantation and use of Medtronic SBT products. Educate physicians, physician assistants, perfusionists, and operating room staff on indications, procedural techniques, and appropriate use of SBT products. Develop and maintain comprehensive clinical and technical product knowledge. Act as a consultant troubleshooting and managing complex procedural challenges. Support physician adoption and growth phases, and assist field and Medical Affairs teams with customer communication regarding device complaints, product evaluations, and explants. Collaborate with sales personnel on physician targeting, training program attendance, and post‑training follow‑up. Provide first‑case and complex‑case support, and assist with minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) and advanced procedural training initiatives. Disseminate peer‑reviewed scientific and clinical information, and maintain influential relationships with key customers and physician leaders. Support onboarding and development of new sales representatives and clinical specialists, delivering competitive and product training. Manage scheduling, hospital access, vendor credentialing, expense reports, and required training and compliance certifications. Maintain strong communication with Territory Managers, District Managers, Area Leadership, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and key stakeholders. Maintain a professional standard of written and verbal communication, collaborating effectively across functions to support physician adoption, account development, and business growth initiatives. Qualifications High School Diploma + 8 years of cath lab, CVOR, or clinical experience or Associate Diploma + 6 years of experience or Bachelor's degree + 4 years of experience Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 60–70% of the time across Houston, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley. Experience with cardiac implantable devices and education/training techniques is a nice to have. Ability to influence clinical practice, build strong physician relationships, and collaborate effectively with the sales team. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required to support customer needs and educational programs. For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required. Travel Requirements Approximately 60–70% travel throughout the territory, including occasional physician training programs, national meetings, wet labs, and educational events outside the assigned geography.
