In this work environment, all team members are part of a community and appreciated by the people they work with – residents and coworkers – every day.Summary:Directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management; Responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports; The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls.Responsibilities:Develops, analyzes, and interprets statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organizationManages assigned staff members by hiring, motivating, and developing the skills of the team members to be efficient and knowledgeable of their job responsibilities; Models effective communication and promotes cooperation and teamwork; Coaches and mentors staff; Strives to empower staff and to help them grow personally and professionally; Provides rewards and recognition of staff and/or team performanceCreates a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting structure that includes a minimum cash threshold to meet operational needsRoutinely reviews revenue cycle metrics to identify and address issues affecting overall performance proactively and oversees the revenue cycle management departmentPartners with senior leaders to ensure the company hits revenue targetsPrepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operationsCoordinates the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly reports for the board of directors, bondholder disclosures, and other internal and external reportingCoordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures and analyzes and reports variancesResponsible for evaluating the performance of staff in the Finance Department; Recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that staff be hired or removed from the departmentMaintains the company's system of accounts and maintains books and records on all company transactions and assetsOversees the company’s tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxesFurnishes internal reports, as well as revises and updates reports to be continually more useful and efficient; Furnishes external reports as necessaryDetermines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisionsEvaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilitiesOversees and directs the use of budgeting and reporting tools to provide necessary information to EverTrue managersQualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in Accounting or Finance and/or commensurate experience in Accounting and Finance skills10 years of experience managing internal accounting and financial reporting and external auditsCPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferredProven work experience as a VP of Finance or similar roleIn-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance and other regulatory mattersAdept in fiscal management principles and processes, including resource management and needs assessmentSelf-motivation to work independently and as a team memberAdvanced knowledge of computers and financial accounting and BI softwareIn addition to the above minimum qualifications, this position will also possess demonstrated skills and ability to effectively present information to executive team, board of directors, staff members, and public groups; deal effectively with personnel, residents, customers, and the general public, and create and oversee implementation of strategies, programs, goals objectives, policies, and procedures.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:The physical activities, demands and work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
