Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,180–$2,290
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week, excluding applicable orientation and unit closure conditions
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and holiday
• Unit: 40-bed post-surgical care unit serving adult and geriatric patients
• Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4–5 on days and evenings; 1:5–7 on nights
• Charting and Equipment: Epic EMR, medication-scanning technology, and Alaris pumps

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical hospital experience
• Recent Level II trauma experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Epic charting experience required
• Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Ability to float to inpatient units as needed
• Strong prioritization, multitasking, communication, and teamwork skills

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult and geriatric patients before and after surgical procedures
• Monitor patients, assess changes in condition, and respond appropriately to varying levels of acuity
• Manage a fast-paced assignment with approximately 10–15 admissions per day
• Administer medications safely using established scanning procedures and infusion equipment
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
• Coordinate care with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe patient transitions
• Prioritize multiple patient needs while maintaining quality and continuity of care
• Float to other inpatient units and participate in the required weekend and holiday rotation
