Join us on this meaningful journey where your skills, compassion and dedication will make a remarkable difference in the lives of those we serve.How you'll contribute A Desk Clerk who excels in this role:Provides clerical, communication, customer service, and coordination support for the daily operations of the Emergency Department.Answers and directs telephone calls and patient call-light communications; assists patients and families; and promotes a professional, compassionate, and positive patient experience.Serves as a central communication resource for ED staff, providers, EMS, ancillary departments, inpatient units, transfer centers, transportation companies, and outside healthcare facilities.Supports patient flow by coordinating communication related to admissions, bed placement, transfers, and transportation with the multidisciplinary team.Facilitates provider consultations with in-house and outside providers, assists with telepsychiatry and teleneurology services, communicates ambulance and incoming patient notifications, supports transfer documentation and EMTALA processes, and ensures time-sensitive information is communicated using closed-loop communication.Maintains patient confidentiality, appropriately escalates delays or safety concerns, and supports efficient throughput and continuity of care.Actively participates in the organization's Foundational 5—Briefs, Huddles, Debriefs, Learning Boards, and Executive Patient Safety Rounds—and contributes to a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.Complies with legal, hospital and departmental policies, procedures and position requirements.Performs other duties as assigned by the Emergency Department Director or designee.What we're looking for Education:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Licenses & Certifications:Must obtain the following certifications within 90 days of hire; CPR, and Handle with Care.Schedule: Full-time (FTE 0.9) 72 hours per pay period (every two weeks).Why join us We believe that investing in our employees is the first step to providing excellent patient care.
