Pharmacy Manager

Pharmacy ManagerThe Pharmacy Manager at Central Florida Health Care, Inc. will oversee all aspects of pharmacy operations, with a primary focus on the 340B Drug Pricing Program. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The Pharmacy Manager will manage daily operations, including interpreting prescription orders, packaging, labeling, dispensing, administering, and distributing medications and devices, as well as providing patient education and counseling as needed. Additionally, this position will supervise staff, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, and enhance pharmacy services to elevate patient care. The Pharmacy Manager will collaborate with site providers to improve patient outcomes and work closely with site leadership to implement and enforce pharmacy policies and procedures, streamline operations, and maintain high standards of patient safety and satisfaction. Reporting directly to the Chief of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Manager will play a key role in expanding services for underserved populations, supporting the organization's mission to provide accessible and affordable healthcare. All duties must be carried out in accordance with Central Florida Health Care's (CFHC) policies, procedures, Mission and Vision Statements, Overarching Goal, CFHC's performance expectations, and all relevant Federal and State guidelines.Minimal Qualifications:Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited institutionCertification/Licensure: Active Pharmacist License in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy and valid BLSC certificationComputer and Equipment: Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Teams, and use of pharmacy management software, technology and equipmentPreferred Qualifications:3–5 years of experience in a pharmacy setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory positionComprehensive understanding of pharmacy laws and regulations, particularly those relevant to FQHCsExperience in a healthcare environmentFamiliarity with the 340B drug pricing programCurrent immunization certificationExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work effectively in a multidisciplinary CFHC's program philosophies, goals, and objectivesBe cognizant of and comply with all CFHC's policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulationsOperational Management:Manage daily pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to protocolsOversee inventory management, procurement, and medication distribution in alignment with 340B program requirementsMaximize the benefits of the 340B program to ensure cost savings for eligible patientsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including DEA regulations, state guidelines, and FQHC-specific requirementsImplement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and accuracyKeep the pharmacy neat and orderlyEnsure support staff understand and comply with CFHC's Blood Born Pathogens Exposure Control Plan requirementsReview and verify prescriptions by fully utilizing pharmacy systems, ensuring accurate data entry, confirming correct medications, weighing and counting pills, and checking for potential interactionsDemonstrate and promote teamwork, contributing to and modeling a collaborative environment to meet service level expectationsUphold pharmacy hours at assigned siteRemain on site on an on-call basis during lunch unless there is a second pharmacist on dutyVolunteer a minimum of two times annually for Saturday shiftsStaff Management and Supervision:Manage pharmacy workflow by assigning roles, coordinating activities and schedules, prioritizing tasks, assigning special projects, preventing bottlenecks, ensuring operational efficiency, and handling opening and closing proceduresRecruit, train, supervisor and mentor pharmacy technicians and pharmacists: Address performance issues through feedback, performance reviews, and documentation of performance and disciplinary actions in line with company policyProvide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for all pharmacy staffAddress employee relations concerns, maintain morale, and ensure positive employee-management relationships by addressing complaints, conflicts, and concernsConduct regular staff meetings to communicate updates, policies, and address concernsTrain employees through new hire orientation, on-the-job training, cross-training, answering questions, assessing training needs, following up to ensure training is applied, and providing ongoing coachingPromote a collaborative and supportive team environment aligned with organization valuesCollaborate with the scheduling team to develop and maintain staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient workflowPatient Care and Services:Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy management (MTM), chart review and other clinical servicesWork with healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies, suggest alternative medications, and answer provider questionsCounsel patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient privacy, generic options, cost-effective alternatives, and over-the-counter products, referring them to a medical provider as needed to ensure proper medication use, address health concerns, and enhance satisfactionEnsure access to affordable medications for eligible patients through effective 340B program utilizationAddress patients' needs by minimizing wait times, notifying them of delays, recognizing patients by name, investigating issues, ordering special items, resolving problems, and assisting with specific items (e.g., blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring)Resolve customer complaints and monitor the quality of customer service provided by employeesQuality Assurance and Compliance:Comply with government laws and regulations, company policies, procedures, ethics, and code of conductPrepare, maintain, and submit all records, reports, and documentation required by state and federal laws (e.g., prescription copies, regulatory reports) as well as all necessary business documentation (e.g., operating statements, performance reports, supervision notes, deletions, transfers)Conduct or participate in audits to ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards (e.g., supervision, state inspections, insurance reviews, controlled substance audits, peer reviews), including reviewing prescription files, narcotics invoices, inventories, legal documentation, licenses, etc.Ensure patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelinesStay current in the fields of pharmacy and healthcare by reading industry journals, company publications, completing required company training modules, continuing education, researching new drugs, and attending company meetings as neededMonitor and report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and other quality indicatorsDevelop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy servicesFinancial Management:Review and analyze customer service, financial, and inventory data, including pharmacy sales, income reports, inventory levels, expense reports, and historical trends, to assess pharmacy performance, identify trends, uncover issues, and spot opportunities for improvementEfficiently manage and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet patient needs while minimizing costs by anticipating demand, reducing high-cost orders, preventing expired or recalled stock, managing overstock and slow-moving items, and reconciling stock discrepancies and partial fills using available company resourcesOversee and participate in loss prevention activities, including conducting audits, verifying vendor deliveries, monitoring of employee theft, and implementing policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assetsStrategic Planning and Development:Work with the Chief of Pharmacy to develop and execute strategic plansIdentify opportunities to expand pharmacy services and improve patient careEngage in community outreach and promotional activities to raise awareness of the pharmacy and its servicesPerforms other duties as assignedPhysical Requirements:Requires 80% or more time spent standing/walkingIndependently mobileWorking under tight deadlines
