Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Summary Cleaver‑Brooks is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Thomasville, GA. The specialist will evaluate and process vendor invoices in the Accounting System (IFS) and will work as part of a team of six members responsible for vendor payments across multiple Cleaver‑Brooks locations. Essential Functions Code invoices, vouchers, expense reports, and check requests with correct codes according to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the financial system. Handle all vendor correspondence via phone or email. Match purchase orders to incoming invoices and verify all supporting documentation. Investigate and resolve problems associated with invoice and purchase order processing. Assist with monthly status reports and month‑closing activities. Reconcile various accounts by identifying errors or omissions and applying appropriate accounting standards. Respond to routine internal and external inquiries about account status and communicate resolutions. File, maintain, and distribute accounting documents, records, and reports. Perform other duties as required to support the Accounting Department. Education High School Diploma required; candidates pursuing or holding an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance are preferred. Experience At least 2 years of accounts payable or similar accounting processing experience. At least 2 years in a business setting within an accounting department. Good familiarity with basic to intermediate Excel functions (sorting, filtering, pivot tables, formulas). Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.). Preferred Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with IFS or an equivalent ERP system. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines. Open to change and willing to learn new skills. Persistence in following up on pending issues. Physical Skill and Effort Work requires regular speed and accuracy while operating office equipment. Some communication with vendors and coworkers is essential. The position requires minimal active physical exertion. Working Conditions and Hazards Normal plant, shop, field, or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features may occur. Negligible or no exposure to hazards.
