Assistant Maintenance SupervisorA manufacturing facility in Chicago, IL is hiring an Assistant Maintenance Supervisor to support the reliable operation of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. This role serves as the primary backup to the Maintenance Supervisor and is well suited to a hands-on maintenance professional looking to grow into a formal leadership position while staying technically engaged on the floor.Schedule: Full time.Compensation: $30 to $35 per hour, based on experience.What You'll Do: This role acts as backup to the Maintenance Supervisor during absences, helping lead day to day maintenance activities and coordinating priorities to minimize downtime and support production. The Assistant Maintenance Supervisor troubleshoots and diagnoses mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment, including chillers, thermolators, resin dryers, material handling and loader systems, grinders, and tower fans. The role leads root cause analysis efforts to prevent repeat failures and supports preventive maintenance programs aimed at improving equipment reliability and uptime.Beyond hands on repair work, this person supports the training, development, and mentoring of maintenance technicians, helping reinforce accountability, work standards, and a problem solving mindset across the team. Responsibilities also include assisting with time sheet review, work orders, and maintenance prioritization, coordinating with tool crib personnel on parts and supplies inventory, and communicating with production, tooling, and management to support plant priorities. The role promotes safe work practices and helps maintain a clean, organized maintenance environment.This is a manufacturing floor role with moderate noise and frequent movement throughout the shift. The position requires standing and walking for the duration of the shift, lifting up to 55 lbs, and the ability to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, crouch, push, and pull as needed.
