JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: Keep assigned areas clean, sanitized, and aseptic by scrubbing, mopping, spot cleaning window washing, carpet vacuuming, dusting, and other typical housekeeping tasks. Keep workstations carts and supply areas clean and well stocked. Job Relationships: Reports to: Environmental Services Supervisor. Internal Contacts: Nursing Staff, Maintenance, and Residents and Scheduling. External Contacts: Residents, family, and friends. Hours of Work: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Every other Weekend and Every other holiday. Part-time and full-time hours available. Dress Code: Clean, fitted scrubs in solid colors or simple patterns. Bethesda shirts. Black, khaki, or jeans with no holes or rips. Footwear: Closed-toe, comfortable, slip-resistant shoes. Hair and Hygiene:Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, oral hygiene and deodorant. Neatly tied back if long. Identification:Visible name badge, worn on chest area. PPE:Compliance with facility guidelines for masks, gloves, goggles, etc. if applicable. Piercings:Covered or removed if posing infection or safety risk. Tattoos:Covered if unprofessional or offensive. General Appearance:Clean, well-maintained attire. Essential Requirement of Work: Previous housekeeping experience preferable. Ability to read and follow directions. Highly developed sense of responsibility to be able to work independently. Commitment to excellence in cleaning and sanitizing. Ability to cooperate with others. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability for Full Performance: Knowledge of general work routines for all areas. Knowledge of procedures. Working knowledge of procedures for chemical four system and chemicals. Knowledge of Bethesda’s personnel policies. Physical Demands of the Job: Continual walking and standing. Life weights of 20-40 pounds occasionally. Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling movements. Occasional squatting, kneeling, sitting, reaching above shoulder levels. Co-worker and other departmental satisfaction. Principal Job Responsibilities: Responsibility: Maintain residents’ rooms in neat and tidy order. Tasks: Dusting in Resident’s room. Clean window casings. Wipe down light fixtures on walls. Wipe down bed rails as needed. Wipe down all pictures and nick knacks. Wipe off nightstands and dressers. Wipe down doors and closet doors. Wash mirrors. Empty garbage. Sweep floor. Mop floor. Wash windows. Wash resident wheelchairs, commodes, and other resident equipment in room. Tasks: Clean vents. Clean sinks and toilets/comodes. Clean all pipes. Empty wastebaskets. Supply toilet paper, and soaps as needed and check batteries. Clean Shower and Shower equipment. Nurse servers Dust and clean Baseboards Responsibility: Clean soiled utility room. Tasks: Clean counter and sink. Clean sterilization sink and drainer. Wipe down walls as needed. Empty garbage. Fill soap and hand towels. Sweep and mop floor. Dust and Clean Baseboards Responsibility: Keep hallways clean. Tasks: Wipe down pictures and artificial flowers. Refill hand sanitizers and check the batteries. Dust and Clean Baseboards Tasks: Wash and disinfect all tables as needed. Sweep and mop floor. Make sure chairs are clean. Wipe down piano, TV, pictures, and nick knacks once a week or as needed. Dust and Clean Baseboards Responsibility: Clean all Public and Employee bathrooms. Tasks: Clean sink and toilet. Empty garbage. Fill towels and toilet paper refill hand soap and check batteries. Sweep and mop floor. Dust and Clean baseboards Tasks: Sweep and mop floor once a week. Dust and Clean Baseboards Tasks: Wipe down window casings. Wipe pictures, nick knacks, and TV. Wash down tables and chairs. Vacuum chairs as needed. Dust and Clean Baseboards. Tasks: Wash down all countertops. Clean sinks, and mirrors. Empty garbage. Fill paper towels and soap dispensers and check batteries. Sweep and mop floors. Tasks: Fill towels and soap dispensers and check batteries. Clean underside of the lower cabinets. Clean the wall and floor under the handwashing sink. Wipe down outside od Cabinets and appliances. Wipe down and dusting of pillars and cabinetry of island. Empty garbage. Sweep and mop floors. Dust and Clean Baseboards. Responsibility: Clean RN Supervisors office. Tasks: Empty garbage as needed. Responsibility: Maintain elevators and stairways in a neat and clean manner. Tasks: Sweep and vacuum and mop and clean weekly. More often if needed. Responsibility: Total Resident Room cleans on bath day. Tasks: Wash wheelchair on assigned bath day. Wash the bed, mattress, bed frame, and assist rails on the assigned bath day. Flip the mattress if applicable. Responsibility: Clean Spa Tub or Shower Room. Tasks: Empty garbage. Supply toilet paper hand towel check soap and batteries. Clean the outside of whirlpool once a week. Sweep and mop floor. Dust and Clean Baseboards. Responsibility: Clean Employee Break Rooms Tasks: Clean Country and Sink Table and Chairs Clean Equipment as needed Sweep and mop floors Take Garbage out Refill Paper Towel and check soap and batteries Dust and Clean Baseboards Responsibility: Pro Rehab Therapy Areas Responsibility: Extra assignments that need to be done periodically. Tasks: Take down and re-hang cubicle drapes as needed. Clean housekeeping cart and closet as needed. Mix cleaning solutions as needed. Bring cleaning supplies up and stock shelves. Keep vacant rooms ready for new residents. Report needed repairs to maintenance. Adjust to schedule changes. Clean windows twice a year – Spring and Fall. Spot clean as necessary. Visit assigned resident on a regular basis. (Recommended 5 minutes a day) Professional and Personal Growth: Attend in-service and mandatory meetings are required. Observe all personnel policies.
