ER - Registered Nurse (RN) - ER

As an RN in the Emergency Department, you provide rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment for acutely ill or injured patients. You coordinate with physicians, mid-level providers, and support staff to deliver timely, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform triage, initial assessment, and priority-based care in the ED.
  • Administer medications, monitor patient status, and respond to clinical changes promptly.
  • Collaborate with physicians and team to implement treatment plans and perform procedures as appropriate.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in the EMR.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions.
  • Coordinate with ancillary services for imaging, labs, and specialty referrals.

Qualifications

Education:

Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program.

Licensure:

Active RN license in the appropriate state.

Certifications:

  • BLS certification; ACLS typically required for ED staff

Experience or Skills:

Experience in emergency care, critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and teamwork.

Experience

  • Experience in emergency or acute care settings.
  • Experience performing procedures and responding to urgent patient needs.

Preferred

  • BSN preferred; ED certification (ENA or CEN) optional
  • Experience in trauma or pediatric emergency care

Work Environment

Work in fast-paced ED with high patient turnover; multidisciplinary teams with physicians, practitioners, and support staff.

24/7 operations with shift rotations; documentation in the EMR and patient care systems are standard.
