Family Support Specialist
Join a dedicated team at HumanKind, where you'll make a meaningful impact on the lives of pregnant and parenting families with children ages 0-5. As a Family Support Specialist (FSS), you'll provide home visitation services to promote positive parent-child interactions, support healthy development, and empower families to reach their goals. You'll use the evidence-based Growing Great Kids curriculum while fostering strong, trusting relationships with families. Our team is collaborative, supportive, and committed to improving the well-being of families in our community.
Success in this role looks like:
- Maintaining a caseload of 15-20 families, starting with 10-12 families in your first year.
- Providing home visits that meet Healthy Families America standards, traveling to various neighborhoods within the service area.
- Developing and implementing Family Goal Plans and service plans in collaboration with families and supervisors, regularly updating them as needed.
- Teaching child development and parenting skills through the Growing Great Kids curriculum, and helping families build problem-solving and coping skills.
- Assisting families in accessing community resources, acting as an advocate and liaison between families and local agencies.
- Providing crisis intervention and support for families while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Collaborating with HumanKind programs and referring families to wraparound services to meet their needs.

What you bring to the team:
- Experience working with or providing services to children and families, with an open and humble approach to working with diverse populations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport and trust with families.
- Flexibility, self-direction, and the ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
- Knowledge of child development, parenting strategies, and family systems, with a passion for empowering families.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally for home visits.
