Cornell University Veterinary Specialists (CUVS) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Emergency Clinician with a passion for emergency surgery or a desire to further develop advanced emergency surgical. This position offers the opportunity to practice high-level emergency medicine and perform emergency surgeries in a collaborative multidisciplinary specialty hospital while benefiting from a unique hybrid of private practice efficiency and academic engagement.

Our Emergency and Critical Care service is well established and highly supported, consisting of six criticalists, six residents, six experienced emergency clinicians, and a large team of highly trained veterinary nurses (including multiple VTS). Emergency clinicians work closely with all specialty services, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, and Dentistry. We emphasize evidence-based medicine, shared decision-making, and a patient-centered model of care.

For clinicians who enjoy surgery, this position offers exceptional mentorship from a collaborative team. Emergency clinicians are encouraged to develop and refine their emergency surgical skills while having direct access to experienced surgical colleagues for consultation, guidance, and support. Our state-of-the-art facility supports comprehensive diagnostics and therapeutics, including a dedicated ICU, mechanical ventilation, high-flow nasal oxygen, an in-house blood bank, viscoelastic coagulation monitoring, 128-slice CT, endoscopy, and fluoroscopy. A large and diverse emergency caseload, combined with owners committed to high-level care, fosters strong clinical growth and development.

This position includes shared on-call responsibilities, providing additional opportunities to manage complex emergency surgical cases with the support of an experienced team while ensuring optimal care of our patients.
