Veterinary Assistant

Job Summary The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and other associates, and maintaining continuity of quality veterinary care. Preferred Education and Licenses Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Preferred Experience Must be able to perform all required skills of NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice. Day in the Life – Responsibilities Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service to clients and pets. Use technical skills on a daily basis, within state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines. Help maintain the flow of patients. Communicate with the veterinarian and vet techs. Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance. Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe and keep treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized. Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans® and the importance of preventive care. Mentor other members of the hospital team. Compensation The pay range for this role is $15.99 – $20.44 per hour. The specific rate is determined based on the candidate’s experience, skill level, and education, and may vary by location or applicable minimum wage laws.
