Myrick Recruiting is partnering with a client in industrial distribution industry that is a major supplier of cutting tools and accessories for flooring, roofing, and tile installation. We are looking to hire a Territory Account Manager that lives in Seattle, Portland or Phoenix. There will be extensive travel with this position and remote when not traveling. Will be mostly working with existing accounts to add new products. You will also partner with the distributors for outside sales.
Will be covering and everything west of them - New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana. Primarily, the business is in Washington, Oregon, California and Arizona.
The Territory Account Manager is responsible for profitable sales growth for within an assigned territory. The role develops distributor, branch, outside-sales, and contractor relationships and converts company product and channel strategies into measurable gains in placement, assortment, inventory turns, contractor adoption, revenue, and gross profit.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Territory & Account Growth: Develop and execute territory and key-account plans; achieve revenue and gross profit objectives; prioritize target accounts, branches, contractors, and focus products; maintain a qualified opportunity pipeline and accurate CRM activity.
- Expand Sets into More Stores: Map current customer locations, identify branches without approved sets, present stocking business cases, secure placements, and coordinate initial orders, displays, training, replenishment, and follow-up.
- Expand Products within Existing Sets: Review branch assortments against recommended sets; identify category and SKU gaps; propose additions based on contractor needs, local demand, competitive opportunities, and product performance; monitor results and refine the mix.
- Improve Inventory Turns & Sell-Through: Review branch sales, inventory, reorder activity, out-of-stocks, and slow movers; help establish practical stocking levels; improve merchandising and product visibility; recommend transfers, replenishment, assortment changes, and focused selling actions.
- Win Large Contractors: Build relationships with distributor outside sales teams; create joint contractor target lists; conduct field and jobsite calls; support demonstrations, trials, comparisons, and conversions; generate pull through demand through authorized distributors.
- Develop New Accounts: Identify and qualify new distributor and dealer opportunities; present the Better Tools value proposition and recommended program; manage opportunities through initial order, implementation, and structured account development.
- Execute Product Launches & Training: Secure launch placements; train branch and outside sales personnel; conduct demonstrations; track initial sales, reorders, contractor feedback, and adoption barriers.
- Provide Market & Product Feedback: Maintain strong product, application, and competitive knowledge; communicate assortment gaps, contractor needs, pricing feedback, competitive activity, inventory issues, and new product opportunities to Product Management and sales leadership.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Product Management, Marketing, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to execute assortment, positioning, pricing, launch, promotion, availability, and customer-service strategies.
- CRM & Reporting: Maintain accurate CRM reports for contacts, activities, opportunities, and account plans. Provide timely reporting on pipeline, sales activity, and territory performance while supporting growth of the marketing contact database.
- Trade Shows: Attend and represent the company at trade shows, industry events, customer meetings and demo days.
Working Conditions:
Work Environment: Remote - Home/office; frequent travel to customer sites, trade shows, and company meetings. Travel Requirements: Up to 50%, including overnight travel.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods during trade shows and customer demonstrations.
Required Qualifications:
- 4 plus years of sales experience in sales to industrial distribution, preferably within the flooring segment. Energetic, driven, and enjoys being in front of customers.
- Live within the assigned territory.
- Proven ability to manage distributor and dealer relationships.
- Experience managing programs and relationships with wholesale distributors and dealers
- Travel (≈ 50%) will be required.
- Working knowledge of flooring installation tools; hands-on installation experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experienced with CRM
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent business experience will be considered.
