Backend Engineer, Fintech Startup (Remote)

Remote (US) | $180–250K base + equity We’re working with a profitable, fast-growing fintech startup transforming access to credit for consumers traditionally underserved by the financial system. This is a high-impact opportunity to join a lean engineering team where you’ll own backend systems end-to-end and ship production code quickly. This is an ideal role for engineers who enjoy startup environments, high ownership, and solving real product problems rather than working in large, specialized teams. About the Role You’ll work on backend systems that power financial products used by thousands of customers. Engineers here operate with high autonomy, contribute to architecture decisions, and help scale systems as the company continues to grow. What You’ll Do Own backend services from design through deployment Build scalable APIs and services powering financial products Design and implement backend architecture on AWS Ship production code frequently while maintaining quality Make pragmatic technical tradeoffs between speed and scalability Help define engineering best practices Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams Tech Stack Backend: Node.js (TypeScript), Python Cloud: AWS Frontend: React / Next.js Data: Postgres, DynamoDB Infrastructure: Docker, Terraform Experience with similar stacks is welcome. What They’re Looking For 3+ years backend engineering experience Experience building backend systems at a startup or fast-moving product company Strong experience with Node.js or Python Experience building APIs and scalable services AWS or similar cloud experience Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects Comfortable working in fast-paced startup environments Nice to Have Fintech or payments experience Experience with AI development tools (Cursor, Claude, etc.) Experience working at early-stage startups Experience scaling backend systems Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $180K–$250K Competitive equity package Fully remote (US) High ownership environment with direct impact Opportunity to work closely with experienced startup founders #J-18808-Ljbffr
