Courier/Warehouse Technician

The purpose of this position is to facilitate courier services for multiple valley school districts. Responsibilities include the timely delivery of payroll and accounts payable warrants, treasurer deposits, and vital school business correspondence. This role requires traveling twice weekly to all participating school districts, the Maricopa County Treasurer's Office, and the Maricopa County School Superintendent's Office. This position also supports the warehouse to ensure the work calendar and allocated hours are completed.

Job qualifications include:

• Valid AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Valid AZ Driver's Licence must be maintained at all times
• Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent certificate (required)
• Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to be punctual and reliable in the performance of duties
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all school business matters
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in record keeping and reporting
• Knowledge of and adherence to proper lifting methods and safety procedures
• Ability to occasionally push, pull, or lift weights in excess of fifty (50) pounds
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Essential functions include:

• Knowledge in procedures for management of school finance, district organization, operation, policies and procedures, State and Federal laws, statutes, rules, codes and regulations governing school finance activities and functions including the Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR), computer spreadsheet and database software applications and other Microsoft Office tools, general office processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of using email, managing files, recording and reporting grades electronically, and using Google applications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to a variety of audiences in both written and oral form.
• Ability to read and interpret written material in print or electronic format.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Operates a district-assigned vehicle to retrieve payroll and accounts payable warrants, as well as business correspondence, from the Maricopa County School Superintendent's Office.
• Ensures the timely distribution of warrants and correspondence to all participating school districts while facilitating the collection of outgoing mail and treasurer deposits from each site.
• Delivers vital school business correspondence to the Maricopa County School Superintendent's Office and executes treasurer deposits at the Maricopa County Treasurer's Office on behalf of participating districts.
• Maintains proactive communication regarding operational updates, issues, or concerns with participating school districts and the Buckeye Union High School District Director of Budget & Finance.
• Coordinates and adjusts delivery schedules as necessary during holiday weeks or in response to alternative district calendars to ensure service continuity.
• Fulfill warehouse technician duties and responsibilities as may be necessary to complete hours necessary for the week or work calendar days.
• Assist other warehouse technician(s) and specialist(s) to maintain, keep orderly and inventoried and generally keep in good and safe condition the classroom and staff supplies in the district warehouse.
• Receive supplies and goods delivered to the district following district procedures and state and federal guidelines.
• Receive and process staff requests for supplies in a timely manner.
• Deliver all supplies and goods to all schools and sites.
• File warehouse documents.
• Assist in the implementation of a computerized system of maintaining the warehouse, its products and the system of ordering, delivery and inventory.
• Work independently and in groups and be a self-starter.
• Assist in safety programs, drills and evacuation proceedings as required.
• Attend classes, in-services and seminars as needed to improve knowledge and skills and to keep current with the latest in services, equipment, materials and functions as they pertain to the district's needs.
• Perform duties and assignments and use materials and operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner, using safety equipment or clothing which might be reasonable to ensure the safety of self, fellow employees and students.
• Perform emergency tasks as needed and directed.
• Assume responsibility for and secure the district assigned keys which are assigned to you for your job use and safekeeping.
• Listen to, understand and carry out oral and written instructions and directives, and respond with oral and written reports as required.
• Maintain good personal cleanliness and dress appropriately for the position.
• Practice good public relations techniques with students, staff, administration and parents, demonstrating a cordial and friendly manner.
• Work efficiently and cooperatively with other staff members.
• Practice regular and consistent attendance, arriving and departing at the designated times for your position.
• Refrain from the use of inappropriate, obscene or foul language.
• Maintain in good condition and store for safekeeping property, supplies and materials of the district.
• Maintain district security by locking doors and gates for which you are responsible, being on campus only during reasonable hours, and reporting to the Custodian, Director of Maintenance, Business Manager or Superintendent any problems with locks, lighting, windows, utilities, etc.
• Assist in keeping the district campuses clean and orderly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Purchasing & Warehouse

Physical requirements include:

The employee must frequently operate a motor vehicle for extended periods of time while traveling between various locations. Essential functions require the ability to sit for long periods while driving and to stand, walk, and carry items between the vehicle and offices. Specific vision abilities required include far vision for safe driving, and close vision to read, sort, and process documents, such as warrants and correspondence. The employee must occasionally push, pull, or lift weights up to fifty (50) pounds, such as boxes of documents or supplies.

Working environment includes:

The work environment is primarily a vehicle for regular, extensive travel between district offices and county offices, exposing the employee to varying outside weather and traffic conditions. The employee will also spend time in varied indoor settings, including district offices and county facilities. The noise level in these indoor environments is typically moderate. The position requires adherence to strict deadlines (timely delivery of warrants and correspondence), which may involve periods of recurring pressure.

• Earned Paid Sick Time (Accrued up to 5 days)
