Base pay range $75.00/hr - $80.00/hr Direct message the job poster from Matlen Silver Award Winning Senior Technical Recruiter at Matlen Silver Job Title: Senior AI/LLM Engineer Duration: 12+ Months Location: Washington, DC Required Pay Scale: $75-$80/hour W2 ***Due to client requirements this role is only open to USC or GC candidates*** Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI/LLM Engineer to design, build, and optimize advanced AI solutions with a strong focus on Large Language Models (LLMs). The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in applied machine learning, natural language processing, and modern AI frameworks, with proven experience scaling LLM-powered applications from prototype to production. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and engineering teams to deliver cutting-edge AI capabilities that solve complex business problems. Must Haves Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field (PhD preferred). 7+ years of professional experience in AI/ML engineering, with at least 2+ years working with LLMs or generative AI. Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers). Deep understanding of LLM fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and distributed training. Proven experience deploying ML models into production at scale (Kubernetes, Docker, cloud platforms like AWS/GCP/Azure). Familiarity with data pipelines, MLOps, and CI/CD for machine learning workflows. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Desired Skills Experience with multi-modal models (text, vision, speech). Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and ethical AI practices. Contributions to open-source AI projects or published research in ML/AI/NLP. Experience optimizing inference on GPUs, TPUs, or other accelerators. Experience Matters.
