Salary: $20 - $25/hr Position Summary Under the guidance of the Program Director, this position plans and directs the Outreach for the Beacon Program. The position is responsible for the development and implementation of community activities and programming for young children and their families. The Outreach Coordinator has responsibility for the daily operations of the Outreach Program, including, but not limited to: enrolment, employee relations, parent relations, Health and Safety, and electronic data management. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for outreach within the community surrounding the Beacon Community Center. The Outreach Coordinator will build and maintain relationships with schools, community partners, and individuals within the neighborhood community. He or she will connect with community members, share information about the Beacon, advertise Beacon services, and solicit feedback from participants and community members to continually improve programming to meet community needs. Children's Aid Mission To help children in poverty to succeed and thrive. We do this by providing comprehensive support to children and their families in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. Children's Aid annually serves children and their families at over 40 sites in New York, as well as through three national program models. Children's Aid is concentrating its efforts on creating cradle-through-college pathways in high-need neighborhoods, with a focus on children's health, family stability, education, and social and emotional development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned Conduct community outreach and relationship building for a school-based Beacon program Coordinate with all community partners/co-locators, and help establish new partnerships that may benefit the Beacon program Collaborate with the host school’s personnel and administrative team to perform outreach to students and families that might benefit from Beacon services such as Pantry, evening and weekend services Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders (participants, parents, school staff and administration, funders, and the community) Maintain accurate and up-to-date records pertaining to partnerships, and outreach activities Ensure program meets Beacon goals, including helping to meet recruitment targets for all age levels of participants Engage Beacon participants and families through communication, provide access to needed services, and offer Must be capable of overseeing Beacon program operations in the absence of the Beacon Director Actively participate in Advisory Council and Youth Council meetings Help build a strong sense of community which values respect, acceptance, and high expectations Perform other duties and tasks as deemed necessary. Minimum Qualifications A minimum of a High School diploma, with some related college coursework, preferably in education, youth development, or community development A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working with youth or adults in an educational setting is preferred Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment Key Competencies Capacity to work independently and collaboratively Strong verbal and written communication skills Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word and Excel, email correspondence, and database management is required It is the policy of Children's Aid to provide equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants for employment and is dedicated to maintaining a work environment that is free from harassment and discrimination.
