Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; CRRN, PCCN preferred but not required
Must-Have: Experience with management of Swans, Prismaflex CRRT, IABP, and immediate open heart recovery.


Description:
The unit is a mixed ICU, managing both medical and cardiovascular patients.
There are 24 beds in the unit, with patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU level acuity, and 1:3 to 1:4 for PCU level acuity.
Common diagnoses include sepsis, COPD, Covid, pneumonia, withdrawal, and strokes, among others.
Nurses are required to titrate various medications, including sedation, vasoactive medications, and paralytics.
Charge and resource nurses are present on every shift, with the charge nurse not carrying a patient load.
There are certified nursing assistants in the unit with a ratio of 1:12.
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, dedicated to the ICU.
All ICU nurses are required to set up, manage, and interpret monitors.
Self-scheduling is practiced every six weeks, with schedules being balanced and reviewed by management.
Weekend shifts, particularly Sundays, are in high demand.
Holiday requirements are based on rotation with permanent staff.
Floating to other critical care floors or the emergency room may be required.
Professional color scrubs are the dress code for the unit.
Candidates should possess a flexible and team-oriented mentality.
