Ready to join our quest for better? The Pre-Operative Clinic at Northwestern Memorial Hospital is a hospital outpatient department within Surgical Services. Our focus in the PreOp Clinic is to optimize patients to safely undergo anesthesia and to provide patients with a clear understanding of what to expect on the day of surgery. Our nurses’ primary responsibilities are the following: Manage anemia clinic and administer iron infusions for Preop Clinic, OB, Cardio-thoracic, and Internal Medicine patients; Provide phone screening for patients undergoing cataract surgery and GI Colonoscopy procedures; Screen patients for Penicillin Allergy Challenge and assist in the administration of challenge; Assist in follow-up for patients seen by our Advanced Practice Providers in clinic; Serve in Charge Role, supporting overall clinic needs. Candidates must have at least two years of nursingwork experience in order to be considered for this position. Strong IV skills preferred for anemia clinic. Schedule : 4 10-hour shifts per week with a rotating day off, no weekends, no call, no holidays. Based on the NMH framework for practice, the registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent, evidence-based care for an assigned group of patients that includes diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. As a member of the clinical care and unit team, the RN participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve exceptional outcomes and enhance unit operations.
