Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Medication Administration Clinical Assessment Experience Description: The Medical Surgical unit consists of 18 beds. The staff includes 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator, 5 Full-Time RNs, and 2 Full-Time LPNs. There is a mixed type of staffing on day and night shifts. Day shift consists of 1 RN, 2 LPNs, and 2 Patient Care Technicians. Night shift consists of 1 RN, 2 LPNs, and 2 Patient Care Technicians. Patient ratios are 1 nurse to 6 patients and 1 Patient Care Technician to 9 patients. Equipment used on the unit includes IV pumps, PCA pumps, SCDs, and K pads. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) is typical for the role. Candidates should possess skills in medication administration and clinical assessment. Experience working with NG tubes, feeding tubes, Foley catheters, and surgical drains is preferred. Wound care experience, along with IV fluid and medication administration, is a plus. Typical procedures performed include surgical assessments, post-operative care, and patient teaching. Flexibility and adaptability are important traits for success in this role. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. Staff members are required to work every other weekend. There is no on-call requirement.
