Responsibilities

• Manage both acute and chronic illnesses, from common conditions like hypertension and diabetes to complex multi-system diseases.
• Perform thorough physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and adjust treatment plans as patient needs evolve.
• Educating patients on healthy lifestyles, recommending screenings, and administering vaccinations to reduce disease risk and detect conditions early.
• Coordinate care for patients with multiple chronic conditions to integrate treatment plans.
• Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
• Regular and prompt attendance
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
• Related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama Required
• Completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program Required
• OR
• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program Required
• NPC - Certified Nurse Practitioner Required and
• Licensed Nurse Practitioner with the State of Alabama Required and
• RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Required
• OR
• Licensure with the State of Alabama as a Physician Assistant within 60 days Required
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to generate and prioritize differential diagnoses using history, physical exam, and diagnostic test results.
• Develop, present, and refine assessment and management plans for complex adult illnesses.
• Apply clinical guidelines, cost considerations, and patient preferences to decision-making.
• Interpret lab results and imaging.
• Provide patient and family education on disease management and prevention.
