As a Team Lead at 202 Cannabis Co., you'll play a key role in the day-to-day success of our dispensary by leading the sales floor, supervising shift operations, supporting opening and closing procedures, coaching team members, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience in a compliant and fast-paced environment. Description Location: 202 Cannabis Co. – Garnerville, NY Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time Pay: $19.00–$20.00 per hour (based on experience) Job Overview The Team Lead supports the daily operations of the dispensary by leading the sales floor, overseeing opening and closing procedures, ensuring accurate cash handling, coaching team members, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining company policies and compliance standards. This role serves as a working leader who leads by example while supporting management in achieving operational and sales goals. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development Lead by example and foster a positive, professional work environment. Support and motivate team members throughout each shift. Serve as the primary point of contact for routine employee questions during assigned shifts. Assist with onboarding and training new employees. Coach staff on customer service, sales techniques, product knowledge, and company expectations. Delegate tasks and ensure daily responsibilities are completed efficiently. Communicate operational concerns, customer issues, and employee feedback to management. Customer Experience & Sales Deliver exceptional customer service by educating customers and making personalized cannabis recommendations. Build strong customer relationships and promote repeat business. Resolve customer concerns professionally and elevate issues when appropriate. Promote daily specials, loyalty programs, and store events. Drive sales through effective upselling, cross-selling, and product education. Lead by example in achieving individual and team sales goals. Opening, Closing & Cash Management Perform opening and closing procedures in accordance with company SOPs. Open and secure the dispensary while completing all required operational and security checklists. Count, balance, and reconcile cash drawers accurately at the beginning and end of each shift. Prepare and verify daily cash deposits following company cash-handling procedures. Investigate and report register discrepancies or cash variances to management. Ensure the sales floor is fully prepared before opening and properly secured at closing. Maintain accountability for store keys, alarm procedures, and security protocols while acting as the shift leader. Operations & Inventory Support daily dispensary operations to ensure efficiency and organization. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor. Assist with receiving deliveries, restocking inventory, and maintaining product displays. Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock items to management. Complete operational checklists and assigned projects accurately and on time. Assist with inventory counts, audits, and other operational tasks as needed. Compliance Ensure compliance with all New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations and company policies. Verify customer identification and purchase eligibility. Follow all inventory control, security, and cash-handling procedures. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive business information. Report compliance or safety concerns immediately to management. Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous retail leadership experience preferred. Cannabis dispensary experience strongly preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership and conflict-resolution abilities. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Experience with POS systems and basic computer skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, and stock merchandise. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require. Preferred Skills Strong cannabis product knowledge. Sales-focused mindset with a passion for customer service. Leadership and coaching experience. Cash handling and register balancing experience. Inventory management and merchandising knowledge.
