The Department of Medicine, along with the Division of Allergy and Immunology, is in search of an allergist-immunologist trained in Internal Medicine for a position as Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants should be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Allergy/Immunology and possess a passion for clinical practice, education, research, and scholarly endeavors.
This role encompasses a comprehensive practice in adult and pediatric allergy/immunology, as well as providing inpatient consultations at a major teaching hospital in northeastern New York State. The selected individual will engage in the education of medical students, residents, and Allergy & Immunology fellows in various settings, including outpatient, inpatient, and didactic environments. The candidate will join a team consisting of two full-time and one part-time faculty members, two fellows in training, and a skilled nursing staff. This academic environment emphasizes empathy, mutual respect, and excellence in patient care and education. Clinical ResponsibilitiesDeliver inpatient Allergy & Immunology consultation services for both adult and pediatric patients in the hospital.
Assess and manage a wide range of allergic and immunologic conditions, including asthma, allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, food allergies, drug allergies, atopic and contact dermatitis, insect sting hypersensitivity, anaphylaxis, angioedema, urticaria, eosinophilic and mast cell disorders, and primary immunodeficiency diseases.
Conduct and oversee Allergy & Immunology procedures, such as allergy testing, oral food and medication challenges, allergen immunotherapy, and drug desensitization.
Collaborate with various specialties, including Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Pulmonary/Critical Care, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology, Hematology/Oncology, Otolaryngology, Emergency Medicine, Pharmacy, and other relevant medical and surgical fields.
Instruct and mentor medical students, residents, and Allergy & Immunology fellows.
Engage in the education and guidance of Allergy & Immunology fellows.
Create and deliver educational lectures, conferences, and grand rounds.
Participate in scholarly activities, including clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, publications, and presentations.
Contribute to the development of curriculum and other educational projects within the division.
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution.
Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program.
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Allergy & Immunology fellowship.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Allergy & Immunology.
Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State.
DEA certification.
