Tax Director Multi-Family Office

A leading wealth management and multi-family office organization is seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead a local tax team supporting high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys the technical side of tax compliance but is also looking for meaningful leadership, recruiting, business development, and long-term advancement opportunities outside of the traditional public accounting environment.

The position is open due to the upcoming retirement of a long-tenured leader and offers the opportunity to step into an established team with significant room for continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small local tax team, providing technical guidance, coaching, and career development.
• Serve as a key liaison between the local team, Senior Director, and Head of Tax.
• Oversee complex tax compliance engagements for multi-family office clients and high-net-worth individuals and families.
• Provide strong technical leadership and serve as a trusted resource for complex tax matters.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and developing tax professionals as the organization continues to expand.
• Participate in business development and relationship-building initiatives with clients and prospective clients.
• Help establish and improve processes as the tax organization continues to scale.
• Collaborate with professionals across the broader wealth management and family office organization.
• Contribute to the strategic direction and continued growth of the tax practice.

Ideal Background

• 10+ years of tax experience, ideally with a strong background in public accounting, private client services, family office, or a similar environment.
• Strong technical tax knowledge and experience overseeing complex compliance work.
• Demonstrated leadership and people-management experience.
• Ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing tax professionals.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Business development experience or an interest in developing client relationships.
• CPA or other relevant professional credential preferred.
