Pay Range: $180,000 - $220,000 base target plus bonus

Work Type:  Full-Time

Positional Overview

The Imagine Group is recruiting for a VP of Technology on behalf of our client, a growth focused investment firm, with expertise in supporting growth, operational improvement, and long-term value creation. The firm partners with management teams to provide strategic resources, industry expertise, and capital to help businesses scale and achieve sustainable growth.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the organization’s technology strategy, infrastructure, systems, and digital initiatives to support business growth and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include overseeing technology teams and vendors, managing IT operations and cybersecurity, evaluating and implementing new technologies, developing strategic roadmaps, and ensuring technology investments align with overall business objectives.

Role & Responsibility:

Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success:

1. Serve as a trusted advisor for technology leaders, translating strategic objectives into actionable delivery and infrastructure plans
2. Conduct working sessions with technology leaders and engineering teams to remove roadblocks, troubleshoot critical issues, and uplift operational discipline
3. Operate as a player-coach during special projects, interim leadership gaps, or escalation scenarios
4. Advise on engineering org design, career leveling, hiring priorities, and team structure
5. Support development of technical leadership capabilities, engineering culture, and retention strategies
6. Introduce best practices for team rituals, on-call rotations, retrospectives, and feedback loops
7. Evaluate and mature SDLC practices, including planning, development, testing, and deployment processes
8. Define or optimize branching strategies, pull request hygiene, CI/CD workflows, and test automation
9. Implement scalable release management practices: deployment readiness, rollback procedures, change control, and communication protocols
10. Benchmark and improve key engineering KPIs: DORA metrics, sprint churn, backlog health, and release cadence
11. Recommend tooling and workflow improvements to increase predictability, throughput, and quality
12. Conduct periodic delivery health audits and define remediation plans tailored to team maturity
13. Review cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency, performance, and reliability
14. Track infrastructure spend vs. budget and advise on forecasting, tagging hygiene, and rightsizing strategies
15. Promote cost-conscious design and automation for scalable, secure infrastructure management
16. Evaluate data platform capabilities, data quality practices, and reporting coverage
17. Guide governance standards, schema management, and integration with business intelligence tooling
18. Identify and scope automation or AI/ML use cases tied to strategic business outcomes
19. Lead or support technical integration initiatives post-acquisition, focusing on:
20. Team and org structure alignment
21. Harmonization of engineering processes and tooling
22. Product and architecture integration planning
23. Translate diligence findings into post-close technical plans and ensure cross-functional alignment during execution
24. Advise on selecting, managing, and scaling offshore development partnerships or captive teams
25. Define engagement models, communication protocols, and delivery ownership expectations
26. Monitor and improve distributed team productivity, quality, and integration into the broader engineering organization
27. Help technology leaders s build stronger partnerships with Product, Customer Success, and Go-to-Market teams
28. Coach on executive storytelling and board-level communication
29. Ensure technology initiatives are tied to business outcomes such as customer satisfaction, retention, and revenue growth

Skills & Experience

Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive

1. 7+ years in software engineering leadership roles, ideally across multiple growth-stage or investor-backed software companies
2. Deep hands-on experience in engineering delivery, infrastructure operations, and organizational scaling
3. Familiarity with modern cloud architectures, CI/CD tooling, and agile practices
4. Demonstrated ability to coach technical leaders and uplift team capabilities across varied maturity levels
5. Experience with offshore team models and post-merger technology integration preferred
6. Outstanding communication and influence skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
