Journeyman Electrician – HVAC & Boiler Systems

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems associated with residential and light commercial HVAC equipment, boilers, hydronic heating systems, heat pumps, air conditioning systems, and related controls.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of both line-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems and have experience working alongside HVAC technicians, plumbers, and installation teams to deliver high-quality solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems associated with:
• • Boilers and hydronic heating systems
  • Furnaces and air handlers
  • Heat pumps and air conditioning systems
  • Ductless mini-split systems
  • Water heaters and indirect tanks
  • Ventilation equipment and controls
• Perform line-voltage wiring, including service disconnects, breakers, circuits, and equipment connections.
• Install and troubleshoot low-voltage wiring and controls, including:
• • Thermostats
  • Zone controls
  • Relays and contactors
  • Sensors and control boards
  • Smart HVAC controls and automation systems
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical plans.
• Ensure all work complies with NEC, local electrical codes, and company safety standards.
• Coordinate effectively with HVAC installers, service technicians, plumbers, and project managers.
• Diagnose electrical issues and provide effective solutions in the field.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and timely.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment at customer locations.

Qualifications

Required

• Valid Journeyman Electrician License.
• Minimum 3 years of electrical experience.
• Experience with HVAC equipment wiring and controls.
• Strong understanding of line-voltage and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred

• Experience with boiler and hydronic heating systems.
• Experience with generator interlocks, transfer switches, and standby power systems.
• Familiarity with smart home controls and building automation systems.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience working in residential and light commercial environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders, work in attics, basements, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in varying weather conditions.
