Location: Lombard, IL
Compensation: $20 - $22 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2nd Shift, 4pm - 12:30pm

Your day in this role

As the second shift GMAW specialist, you arrive ready to set up your welding station. You verify material specs—sheet metal in carbon steel, stainless, or aluminum—typically between 12g and 20g. You dial in the MIG parameters, make a few test passes, and fine-tune the machine so production runs smoothly. Throughout the evening, you follow the job schedule provided by the Plant Manager and Foreman, jumping in to assist fabricators with layout and fabrication when needed. When a machine doesn’t behave, you troubleshoot and make adjustments so quality and throughput stay on track.

Between weldments, you may assemble products or skids, keep your workcell tidy, and operate a powered pallet jack safely (training and certification are provided). You communicate any concerns, issues, or material shortages promptly so the team can stay ahead of the plan—all while following safety procedures without compromise.

What you’ll handle

Set up and operate welding equipment; troubleshoot and adjust for optimal performance
MIG weld sheet metal in carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum (12g to 20g)
Work to the production schedule issued by the Plant Manager and Foreman
Assist with layout and fabrication alongside experienced fabricators
Complete light assembly of products and skids as required
Report issues and material shortages quickly and clearly

Additional responsibilities

Help fabricators with proper machine set-up and operation
Operate powered pallet jacks safely (training/certification provided)
Maintain a clean, orderly work area
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Foreman

What you bring

1–3 years of MIG welding experience in a metal fabrication setting
Background with press brake and shears preferred
Solid grasp of shop safety and fabrication processes
Ability to read basic blueprints and perform basic shop math
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
