About the Job: Are you passionate about digging into numbers and helping to make smart lending decisions? As a Commercial Credit Analyst at Independent Bank , you’ll play a key role in supporting our commercial lending team by evaluating the financial strength and creditworthiness of our business customers. You’ll prepare detailed credit analyses and loan proposals, spread and interpret financial statements, and help structure loans that align with our policies while meeting customer needs. What You Will Do: Be a key partner to commercial lenders by spreading and analyzing financial statements for borrowers, co‑borrowers, guarantors, and related entities. Perform and review credit inquiries and other due diligence to support sound lending decisions. Use independent judgment to assess: Cash flow sufficiency; Debt service capacity; Collateral adequacy; Overall borrower risk rating. Review proposed loan structures and recommend options that are both customer‑focused and aligned with bank policies and guidelines. Prepare clear, concise credit analyses and loan proposals that help leadership and lenders make prudent credit decisions. Conduct trend analysis on borrower financial performance to monitor ongoing creditworthiness. Join lenders on customer calls to better understand each business, its industry, and its unique risks and opportunities. Take on additional related duties as needed as you grow in the role What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. 2+ years of commercial credit analyst experience is preferred. Strong accounting foundation, including knowledge of cash/accrual basis accounting, cost accounting, and contractor accounting. Familiarity with commercial lending; direct lending experience is a plus. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex financial information to different audiences. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment. High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality, information security, and ethical standards.
