About the Position

License: Any state RN license accepted. Temporary license application accepted. Certifications: - BLS - ACLS Must-Have: - Experience in Step Down or Progressive Care Unit. - Ventilator experience. - EPIC experience. - Ability to read and interpret EKG strips. - Team nursing experience preferred. Description: This position involves caring for patients with a variety of respiratory conditions. You will work with a diverse patient population, including those with COPD, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, and complications from COVID-19. The unit employs a team nursing model where two nurses and a patient care technician collaborate to provide care for a group of patients. Maintain a targeted patient ratio of 1:4, which may occasionally increase to 1:5 or 1:6. All applicants must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to starting the assignment. The role requires the ability to manage and care for ventilated patients and administer cardiac drips, insulin drips, and other medications as needed. You will have access to interdisciplinary support services including respiratory therapy and nursing teams. An understanding of various medical devices, including trach and bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) machines, is essential. Floating to other units within the facility may be required. Weekend availability and compliance with floating and scheduling policies are necessary. This role promotes a supportive and collaborative work environment focused on improving patient outcomes.
