Child Support Case Manager

The purpose of the Child Support Case Manager is to manage child support cases in an assigned caseload.

Job duties include:

• Managing child support cases in an assigned caseload. Includes enforcement actions such as income withholding notices, employment verifications, emancipation notices, and default notices.
• Updating SETS-Support Enforcement Tracking System with current information as received from the clients, employers, courts, and any other source including information regarding emancipation, employment, or address.
• Locate activities such as postal verifications and monitoring SETS locate activities.
• Updating SETS running record with all actions taken on any case.
• Assisting with the administrative determination of paternity and support; preparing and filing motions and entries; issuing service of process in accordance with Rules of Civil Procedure; scheduling hearings within defined time frames; preparing certified mailings; completing necessary SETS screens and maintaining the case file.
• Scheduling and coordinating genetic testing schedule, arranging testing locations, testing in jails, prisons, and out of state. Explaining procedures, obtaining waivers and forms, and submitting to Central Paternity Registry.
• Preparing, sending, and monitoring all forms for interstate cases, initiating and responding from Ohio in assigned caseload. Monitoring through calls and correspondence to confirm the status of cases in other jurisdictions. Recording in SETS as information is received.
• Conducting investigations and reviewing requests for termination of child support orders in accordance with established law, regulation, and policy. Terminating orders as appropriate.
• Reviewing and referring cases to legal for civil court action or referral for felony indictment. Preparing case summaries and other related documents and correspondence for state hearings. Participating in administrative and court reviews as needed.
• Regularly reviewing and developing a comprehensive knowledge of the federal, state, and local laws and procedures for the child support program. Attending staff meetings, workshops, conferences, and training sessions including SETS training as needed.

Major worker characteristics include:

• Knowledge of computer operations, office practices, and procedures, federal and state rules and laws, interviewing principles, and investigative practices.
• Skill in typing, word processing, organization, written, and oral communication.
• Ability to perform a variety of interrelated and nonstandard procedural assignments, add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, decimals, percentages, maintain accurate records, complete forms and correspondence, gather, collate and summarize documents.

Minimum class qualifications for employment include:

• High School Diploma or GED required, some experience preferred

Hours - Monday – Friday, 8a – 5p (Hours may vary due to the needs of the agency outside of normal working hours)

FLSA - Non-Exempt from Overtime
